Based in Melbourne with 12 branches around Australia, Airmaster is a maintenance company in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry. Airmaster is one of the top 4 mechanical contractors in Australia by revenue. We've been servicing hundreds of corporate offices in the country since 1987. In order to service HVAC systems for companies all around the country, we’re always on the go.
Before Asset Panda, our problem was that while we advertise ourselves to our customers as ready to travel, our asset management solution wasn’t. We were using simple Excel spreadsheets to monitor the tasks our service technicians were heading to and the company-owned tools they were checking out to complete those tasks. If employees forgot to fill out the equipment tracking system before technicians rolled out the door, it was difficult to track down where they were going. And as tools passed from hand to hand, we quickly lost track of them. The most significant pain point by far was any time somebody left the organization. We didn’t remember which assets remained in their possession, and those could be gone forever.
That all changed earlier this year when we adopted Asset Panda. The first thing I noticed was that it was easy to use, even for somebody who is not tech savvy. Anyone can customize AP to their needs. Working with AP’s customer support team, I was able to get a copy of the system to play around with before rolling my custom configuration to the rest of the team. After our team found success with Asset Panda, I have since assisted in rolling it out to other Airmaster branches around the country.
Today, we use Asset Panda to monitor and track our asset out in the field. The Asset Panda mobile app allows us to check in, check out, and swap assets between technicians out in the field. We no longer need to return to our warehouse each time an asset needs to be exchanged because AP’s solution is so portable. And since Asset Panda is cloud-based, our technicians can communicate on the mobile app with our employees on desktop computers in the warehouse in real time. This certainly saves our business on unproductive time and keeps our technicians out on our clients’ sites. It's changed the attitude and mindset of our field technicians in a way that makes them accountable to the equipment tracking system for the assets we provide.
One of the most valuable parts of our transition has been the round-the-clock customer support that comes with the Asset Panda package. The guys at Asset Panda were beneficial each time I had a question or concern. Considering the time difference as they are in America, and I'm in Australia, I wasn’t expecting to hear back from them as quickly as I did. Any time I had an issue with the equipment tracking system, someone was calling me or emailing me to provide support at all times of the day, even times I thought that Americans would be asleep.
We’ve been using Asset Panda for eight months and it’s already changed the way we do things immensely. I estimate that it saves us eight hours a day in reclaimed time and productivity.
