As one of the largest full-service surveying and mapping companies in the United States, SAM has the capacity to field more than 175 crews. The company is based in Austin, Texas. It maintains multiple locations and employs a total staff of more than 900 in professional and support capacities.
We’re a land surveying company, and in our branch location in Austin (which is also the corporate headquarters), we track field equipment. Our assets are spread out all over the United States. We used to use Excel spreadsheets to track those assets, and we would manually update them. It was very difficult to maintain.
Since March 2018, we’ve been using both the mobile and web versions of the Asset Panda apps. The mobile app works better for our field crews. Asset Panda’s interface and features offering have been very simple to understand. We like the ability to monitor check-in/check-out status, manage our asset tracking over multiple locations, conduct inventory management all from the mobile app, and the convenience of the Microsoft Active Directory integration.
Tracking real-time data versus relying on manual data entry has kept our company more up to date on the true utilization of our assets. We now work more efficiently on the inventory and utilization numbers for reporting. Using Asset Panda for our asset tracking efforts is saving us about an hour a day of work time. We haven’t yet had to discuss any issues with support.
