Community Healthcare Nonprofit Uses Asset Panda to Manage Some 8,000 Assets

Since July 1993, ACTS has provided home convalescent equipment to residents of St. Mary’s County, Maryland, including hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, bedside commodes, crutches, canes, shower benches, toilet risers, dialysis chairs, and similar items. Service is without cost to the user of the equipment for the time it is needed. ACTS members are non-paid volunteers from the community, and the organization receives its support from individuals, business donations, and through the contribution of usable convalescent equipment from members of the community.

Founded by Ramey Wible, the mission of ACTS was and is still to lend convalescent equipment out without charge to those people in need, for as long as needed.

We’re a nonprofit with a staff of 25, and we currently have about 8,000 assets in our inventory. We couldn’t keep up with the flow of assets without Asset Panda. All of our assets are loaned from one central location. We have hospital beds, walkers, wheelchairs, knee walkers, toilet seats, sit-to-stand lifts, crutches, canes, etc. Before Asset Panda, ACTS was trying to use an old access database that was partially corrupted.

We use both the desktop and mobile Asset Panda apps. the mobile app allows our volunteers to update our assets as they deliver them and pick them up. The first big way that Asset Panda has made our asset tracking efforts easier is in terms of its accuracy. We can also use the app to track when assets are overdue to be returned. We’re able to get detailed, accurate reports and now have a better understanding of how our assets flow. ACTS is saving about two hours a day using Asset Panda. Most helpful to us are the check-in/check-out status, electronic signature, role-based settings and inventory management features, as well as the Device Data Agent integration, which syncs the hardware and software information on our devices to Asset Panda’s tracking platform daily.

The majority of our volunteers are over 70 years of age, and that has presented a significant challenge in our efforts to up to speed with Asset Panda. Our volunteers only work four hours a week. However, we’ve been using the app for almost a year now, and things are starting to come around. We’re saving about two hours a day using Asset Panda.

Customer service has been very responsive. We’re continuing to work with them to customize our program. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being most likely, the likelihood that I would recommend Asset Panda to a friend or colleague is a 9.
