Benefits

How does Asset Panda help clients reduce costs and increase profits?

By providing a central system of record for assets, Asset Panda helps clients save money by reducing property taxes, property insurance, Federal/State taxes.

Asset Panda also helps our clients reduce asset losses due to misplacement, theft and mis-allocation and enables clients to avoid double-purchases and early equipment breakdowns with better tracking and consistent maintenance.

A ghost asset refers to property that is lost, stolen, or unusable and yet still remains listed as an active fixed asset. An estimated 10 to 30 percent of fixed assets on a business’s books are ghost assets, meaning that you could be overpaying on your taxes and insurance by 30 percent or more. Once you find these ghost assets, you need to eliminate them and remove them from your financial statements. This way, you can demonstrate that you no longer have the asset and should not be charged for it.

Most companies pay property taxes based on the total asset value. By keeping accurate records of asset value and eliminating ghost assets, a company can ensure that do not overpay on property taxes.

By keeping their asset base updated and eliminating ghost assets, companies can take advantage of a full tax write off for state and federal taxes in the year that an asset is lost, instead of delaying the tax benefit by depreciating an asset that no longer exists.

Most businesses pay property insurance based on the total value of their assets. A high level of ghost assets results in an artificial asset value that is too high and an overpayment of property taxes.
