The University of Connecticut (UConn) is one of the United States' top 25 public universities. Comprised of 14 schools and colleges, the university offers students the choice of 113 undergraduate majors, 17 graduate degree choices and six professional degree programs. As a large research institution, University of Connecticut must track and maintain a large inventory of fixed assets. We've been using Asset Panda for the last year and a half to conduct a mobile audit and asset tracking over multiple locations, including our capital and non-capital equipment. UConn has about 4,000 employees, and our assets are moved across seven campus sites around Connecticut.
One of the features of the app that's been particularly useful for us is having the ability to use photo identification. It's very useful in situations where an item is unusual and is not used often.
Overall, Asset Panda has been a very positive upgrade to the method we previously used. Before we found Asset Panda, we relied on a vendor database that had no connectivity to our financial system and required a great deal of data manipulation to import and export data.
UConn uses both the desktop and the mobile Asset Panda apps. Having an app on a phone has made it more convenient to work. As far as our bottom line, ease of work means higher productivity and more time to focus on locating a higher percentage of our assets. We save about an hour a day with the efficiencies Asset Panda delivers. Customer service has been responsive and efficient.
