Established in 1976, Painters USA Inc. has set out on a mission to be the leading provider of commercial and industrial painting and coating services to commercial and industrial clients across the United States.
We have a lot of moving parts with 4 different regions nationwide on job sites all over the country. Keeping an easily reportable history of all of our equipment check in/out as well as repair history and PM reminders have become increasingly more difficult as we grow. We employ over 100 field employees with dozens of jobs going on all over the country at any given time. It doesn't take much to lose track of equipment during the peak of our busy season.
Before implementing Asset Panda about 5 months ago, we were tracking our assets manually with paper forms to record all transactions, from equipment requests to red tags, and job details. If we needed to locate an asset we would have to search through a number of job detail sheets, which allowed for too much human error. When the equipment was picked up, it was never guaranteed that we would get signatures or have enough time to inspect the equipment upon return before it was sent out again.
Asset Panda has dramatically changed our daily tracking processes in a very short time. Having one software platform to track and maintain a large amount of information on every asset has been a change for the better. Asset Panda has helped us reduce costs and spending and has more accurately identified patterns and trends within the company to better anticipate job and/or training needs.
One of the most important benefits of Asset Panda has been to our key company values -- accountability and production. We still have a lot to initiate, but the opportunity to customize our user settings so the warehouse can prep equipment for our foreman, send out an automatic email and the foreman can check out the equipment with required signature fields and time stamped documentation is crucial. Add to that the ability to attach a seemingly endless amount of information on each asset like accessories, vendor information, serial numbers, user manuals, safety information, and expenses puts all of this information at any employee’s fingertips. Asset Panda empowers our team and helps them communicate necessary information more easily, creating an environment of teamwork instead of guesswork.
The simplicity of Asset Panda was what really caught my eye. It has made the transition a lot smoother than any other software we had looked into. We have reduced the amount of information available to users in the field so that they are limited to only the equipment checked out to them for that particular job. This gives them the independence to change an asset’s status to either checked out or red tagged. Keeping it simple provides users the freedom and peace of mind to focus on the work at hand and not the complicated systems and checklists like before.
Having a web-based as well as the mobile application has been beneficial for our company’s multiple needs. The office and warehouse find the website is more useful, while our foreman and field operations managers have no need to plug in a laptop when all their relevant information is available on their iPads. With improved work flow and expense tracking, we can now more comfortably buy the equipment we need and guarantee that the allocation and condition of our assets will be maintained in accordance with our values and expectations.
