SaaS Gains Momentum as More Companies Realize Time, Money Savings

If you’re already an Asset Panda client, you’re well aware of the conveniences of SaaS, or Software as a Service. In essence, companies like Asset Panda allow you to outsource some of your IT functions. And, according to a recent article published in, more and more companies are making this leap to the cloud driven by three factors: easier maintenance, lower costs, and increased speed. A report issued by TechRepublic’s sister site, Tech Pro Research, discussed emerging trends in the “as a service” movement. Entitled “Everything as a Service: Why companies are making the switch to SaaS, IaaS [Infrastructure as a Service], PaaS [Platform as a Service] and more,” the 2017 research report detailed the findings of a study. Among the study’s respondents, the average business uses two to three cloud services, and email is the most popular choice at 61 percent, followed by productivity apps like word processing and spreadsheets (35 percent), then video conferencing (31 percent). Within IT, businesses most often “outsource” datacenter and computing, backup and disaster recovery, network infrastructure and databases.

When it comes to services in the cloud, regardless of which functions you choose to outsource, chances are good you’re attracted to the convenience of automatic maintenance, rather than to have to rely on your in-house IT team to resolve any issues. Disaster recovery doesn’t turn into a full-blown crisis when you can rest easy knowing that your vendor partner has your back. Additionally, those companies indicate that using an outside vendor is actually less expensive in the long run, and the time for deployment required by those vendors is significantly faster. The advantages of “as a service” technology, then, are substantial. Companies are busier than ever, trying to keep up with countless moving parts and details. Mistakes can be very costly, and savvy organizations are deciding that it simply isn’t worth the risk to try to do everything themselves. Outsourcing key functions allow companies to focus on what they do best.

Asset Panda is based on that very philosophy. We give clients the flexibility to track and manage their assets and inventory any way they want. At the same time, however, our clients can rest easy knowing that their data is secure, accurate and in real time. Our mobile platform syncs with the cloud, and clients access Asset Panda through our free iOS, Android and web apps. No additional hardware or software is needed. Our clients already have everything they need to track the entire lifecycle of their assets and inventory, simply by using the mobile devices they already carry. Asset Panda continually updates its robust and completely customizable features offering, and because every Asset Panda account is a premium account, clients receive full access to all of those features. The app also is flexible enough to incorporate new technologies as they become available in the future. Add as many users as you’d like at no additional cost.
